imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9280 PRO VS. bizhub PRESS C7000

The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9200 PRO is an incredible machine, but it is hardly the only professional heavy duty multifunctional unit on the market, which leads us to a new segment created by the CBM team that will help highlight some of the key benefits that Canon multifunctional units hold against the competition. In this inaugural edition of “Canon versus the rest” we are going to be comparing the high capacity imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9280 PRO versus Konica Minolta’s own bizhub PRESS C7000, both in similar markets and in constant contention with each other, but here are a couple key differences that declare Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9280 Pro today’s victor:

  • Significantly faster Warm-up Time

The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9280 PRO offers Quick Startup Mode, which can allow Canon’s imageRUNNER to “outrun” the competition with a startup (31 seconds) time that is 1/13th the time required for Konica Minolta’s unit (6.5 minutes).

  • More robust security feature set

While some options are not included standard with the unit, Canon does seem to spotlight security as a central concern for its more advanced and even some smaller units, which seems to not even be registered by Konica Minolta’s bizhub PRESS C7000. With HDD Erase, a standard feature, which removes latent images after they are completed, and HDD encryption available for purchase, it triumphs over Konica’s lack of features, which are not even available for additional purchase.

  • Scanning speed is three times as fast and features a Single-Pass Duplexing ADF

Though bizhub PRESS C7000 does offer fast scanning, with up to 40 ipm (images per minute), Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9280 PRO outperforms Konica Minolta’s units with a difference of 80 ipm (120 ipm total). Additionally, Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE has the ability to scan to PDF, Powerpoint, Word, and URL, which comes as a standard feature with this model.

  • Higher standard and maximum paper capacities

The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9280 PRO includes four paper drawers that tackle a total of 3,300 sheets, while the PRESS C7000 handles less than half that capacity (1,500 sheets from a total of three paper drawers). What’s more, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9280 PRO can be upgraded to handle a maximum of 9,300 sheets from seven paper sources, while the bizhub PRESS C7000 has a lower maximum paper capacity (7,500 sheets from 5 paper sources).

  • Higher toner yields

With the price of toner being a key concern for most business owners, Canon outdid themselves on this model that utilizes the IR ADV C9280 Series Toner with a yield of almost 72,000 black impressions and 54,000 color impressions in comparison to the bizhub PRESS C7000 that features 41,500 black impressions and 31,000 color impressions.

For any sales team that is looking to quickly summarize these differences, we will include the following chart:
